We invite Colorado middle and high schools to attend the event. The event is free of charge and open for the public.

—- ANNOUNCEMENT:  “El certamen de las mariposas”, BUTTERFLY CREATIVE CHALLENGE

Our committee has designed what we hope will be a fun activity, focusing on one of the iconic references in García Márquez’s works: The Butterfly.

Our activity, “El certamen de las mariposas”, seeks to invite high-school students to develop butterfly-motif constructions related to Gabriel García Márquez’s work. This artwork will be placed around the library during the symposium. Of note, a local artist –whose own artwork develops the butterfly motif—will evaluate the student submissions, and some students will be recognized for their efforts. All students will receive a certificate of participation.

Additionally, we hope the students will visit campus this day to explore the library and find their artwork.
